Classical Guitar

Monty Dillon is a classical guitarist, educator, and all-around music enthusiast with a career spanning over two decades. Born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and having lived in places as varied as Texas, Canada, Alaska, and Dubai, Monty’s upbringing in different corners of the world has contributed to his rich musical perspective. He’s a graduate of the University of Utah, where he earned his Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in classical guitar and composition, all while serving as the resident composer for the Classical Guitar Quartet.

Since his college days, Monty’s musical journey has taken him in many directions. He’s played everything from funk and indie rock to melodic death metal, and you’ll often catch him performing classical guitar at weddings or corporate events. For over 12 years, he’s taught at the School of Rock in Sandy, where he directs shows and helps students develop their musical chops in everything from rock guitar to keyboard techniques.

When Monty isn’t playing or teaching music, you’ll likely find him outdoors—rock climbing, snowboarding, hiking, or camping in the Wasatch Mountains with his wife. A self-proclaimed nerd, Monty’s love for science fiction and fantasy books, as well as board games, adds a fun, strategic twist to his already multifaceted personality.

Monty’s deep commitment to music, combined with his diverse experiences as a performer and teacher, allows him to inspire and connect with students and audiences alike. Whether he’s crafting intricate classical guitar pieces or getting students to embrace their own musical journeys, Monty brings his passion and dedication to everything he does.
